Emotional Spillovers

Believe me, they will. You may not notice their struggles but once you do, it will break you.

With all the technology we impose and insist on keeping in our lives, we find it hard to hold on to simple pleasures in life. The concept of mystery, for instance, is totally and utterly useless in a stalker-friendly society. I am guilty of searching people’s names on Google, Facebook, Twitter and even Tumblr and just inhaling bits and pieces of information about their lives. I am also a victim of logging into Facebook and in two minutes finding myself in a floodgate of chat boxes with small talk from strangers all over the twisted social network.

Gone are the days when you meet someone and you’re free to wonder what kind of person he or she is. What are his or her likes or dislikes; dreams and aspirations; opinion and beliefs; school and course; favorite food and movie, etc. I’d love to have that back. To belong to a world where people are free to really know each other and eliminate preliminary prejudices that arise from random bits of social network information. 

We have stripped ourselves that sense of mystery and picked the weathered path to familiarity. Familiarity is not all bad but paired with illiberallity, we are doomed to complete abandon of our ultimate goal as rational and social beings.

That I enjoy hotdogs very much. No sexual innuendos intended. I just really enjoy eating them.

I also learned that Purefoods Tender Juicy is not the only hotdog in the market that’s worth the buck. I found new hotdog love in Virginia hotdogs. Yum. 

Lastly, hotdogs that are steamed taste way better than fried hotdogs.

So much for hotdogs!

New Girl - This stars the quirky Zooey Deschanel and three normal guys whom she lives with in a loft apartment. Her character, Jess, is a pretty but a little weird kind of a modern Phoebe Buffay person. I don’t know if she’s even acting because it all seems so natural to me. Her roommates include one metrosexual but straight white male, one alpha black male and one sweet and sensitive guy (which I’m pretty sure I saw on No Strings Attached). ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 

The Secret Circle - This is a new show from the makers of The Vampire Diaries. I heard it’s also based from a book of L.J. Smith. I’m not sure if this story is connected with TVD though but that would be really cool! (somebody TA me if it is or it isn’t) There was an episode that scared the hell out of me. Witches and bitches. Hot guys and slight porno. ★ ★ ★ 

Two and a Half Men - I know this has been on for years but I refuse to watch it unless the scenes don’t have Charlie Sheen in it. I really enjoy the character of Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher). He’s obnoxious and sweet. A complete turnaround from Charlie (who died in a subway accident). He was almost a reincarnation of Michael Kelso (That 70’s Show) but more sensitive and gullible. ★ ★ ★ ★ 

I don’t have a lot of time to watch TV really. I don’t know how I fit all these in my schedule. This is not all because I watch Harry’s Law, TVD, Glee (not as much), Gossip Girl (not as much also but just for the fashion of it), Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, etc.

I’m pretty much swamped.

I am afraid. I am uncertain. There is something with stepping into the unknown and idly waiting for something that I’m uncomfortable with. I don’t want to be at the mercy of anybody but my God. Sounds cheesy but it’s true. I woke up today asking, “God what do you want me to do?”

Do it afraid.

My high school classmate who’s in the Philippine Military Academy asked: “All out war or peace talks?” in our high school class Facebook group. This is what I came up in around 10 minutes.

MILF maintains that the best way to resolve this is to “negotiate” which was what the CA was for in the first place. The attacks are supposed to be a “defensive” action of the MILF against AFP who supposedly attacked them first. I must say, words such as defense, ceasefire, negotiations seem to be misnomer to both parties. First, the gov should be more careful with their side of the agreement so as not to provoke the MILF. Second, the MILF should also take their side of the agreement and vow not to attack random places (although it’s not coordinated daw). Lastly, Erap’s all out war made some progress in his time. If Noynoy refuses to do that in his admin, he should at least allow some room for aggression because the AFP are obviously under assault.

We had our defense in AIS with Sir Beneff today. We were the last group to defend and we finished late in the afternoon. After that, the sem was officially over!

It’s been a good run. Especially because of these people: ACB, Gangstah, Dormies Jessa, Jafe & Xang, Team 6 and debate circle friends.

Then we proceeded to Missy Bonbon’s Trivia Night with Team 6. We won!

These are my lot for this week. Congrats Team 6 for the back-to-back champ for October.

I shall take a quick vacation tomorrow with my friends before I get back to the city for the final preparations for Xavier NDC. By the way, I still have our thesis to revise before I go. So tata for now!
